Is the Nvidia GeForce 5060 worth extra $100 over the 5050, with everything else being the same in the laptop?
This seems to be a reliable gameplay benchmark and it's in line with the specs of the RTX 5050 & 5060 for laptops:
Although we don't know the actual TDP of the GPUs in the tested Asus ROG Strix G16 (2025) G615 G615JHR laptops, you can see in the video it tops at around 115 Watts on both. Also, the 5060 variant runs cooler while giving better fps, in some games noticeable more, depending on the game. Is this worth additional $100? It's up to you, but right now I see the tested 5060 Strix is only $50 more on Amazon:

Based on specs, it's hard to tell whether the RTX 5060 is worth extra $100 over the RTX 5050, but it likely isn't worth it if the price difference is higher than that. That's because the GPUs aren't so different. But also keep in mind that the difference may be greater depending on each laptop model and its GPU power configuration. But in the same laptop model, the power config will likely be similar due to the same design, and likely the same cooling.
First, specs:
- Model: RTX 5060 vs RTX 5050
- CUDA cores: 3328 vs 2560
- Boost Clock: 1455-2497 MHz vs 1500-2662 MHz
- Power Use: 45-100W vs 35-100W
Other important specs are the same - 8 GB GDDR7 memory and 128-bit memory interface.
As for AI, the performance difference is 572 vs 440 TOPS.
But let's wait for the first reliable benchmarks to see the difference in real life gaming if someone post the comparison in the same laptop model or at least with the same power config.
